Civil War Union Soldier. He was enrolled in the 3rd New Jersey Volunteer Infantry on May 27, 1861, and was mustered in as a Sergeant in Company H on June 1, 1861. Reduced to Private on November 1, 1862, and served until he was discharged due to disability on February 23, 1863 at White Oak Church, Virginia.
