unit became part of the 18th NC
Infantry Regiment, left Wilmington
shortly after organization to serve
in Ft Fisher/Ft Caswell areas and
from there was sent to the South
Carolina low country area to guard
various sounds in that area. It was
there that one of the fevers struck
young Eduard and soon died in the
vicinity of what was known as Ft.
Stephens, near Grahamville.
