Registration Card from June 1917 shows name in full as Miles Albion Netzel, while he signed it Miles Albian Netzel. This same card also states his DOB as May 12, 1887.

On his marriage license dated September 27, 1923, his middle name was Albian.

On the Apllication for Headstone dated April 13, 1938, his name was given as NETZEL, Miles Albian.

Miles Netzel Coming Back to Live Here
Miles Netzel, who is a member of the Memphis, Tennessee, baseball team, is planning to return to Olean, to make this city his permanent home.
This will be welcome news to Mr. Netzel's many Olean friends who remember him from his stay here winter before last, before he signed Seattle in the Northwestern league. He is expected to arrive either today or tomorrow and he will meet with a warm welcome from his old companions.
Mr. Netzel is a great plcket billiard shark as well as a capable infielder and his return will also mean a revival of interest in this branch of sport in this city.

Bowling Alleys Opened Here By Miles Netzel
The bowling alleys at 116 West State street have been opened to the public under the direction of Miles Netzel. The alleys have been undergoing extensive repairs and are in first-class condition for the coming season.
Netzel is an ex-ball player from the minor leagues. He has played professional ball in Cleveland, Portland, and Memphis.

OLEAN MEN JOIN AVIATION SECTION OF SIGNAL CORPS
They are doing a rushing business at the local recruiting station. Enlistment has apparently been stimulated by the announcement that men of draft age will be accepted only a few days longer as volunteers and by the reports of the loss of Americans in the fighting on the Western front.
On Saturday MILES A. NETZEL of 419 West Green street enlisted in the aviation section of the Signal Corps and James Duncan, colored, of 437 Nlrth Union street went into the Quartermaster corps of the National Army where a regiment of stevedores is being organized to assist in the transport service.
This morning thdre were three more enlistments in the aviation section of the Signal Corps. The recruits included Francis J. McLaughlin, Frank Fox of 1019 East State street, and Francis M. Briody of 812 Washington street.
