Joan was born Dec. 30, 1922, in Millersburg to Villers and Rose Etta (Lawhead) Horner and married Kenneth M. Taylor on March 21, 1947. He preceded her in death on June 6, 1993.

In addition to being a homemaker and a great cookie baker, Joan operated a professional typing and mimeograph business in her home in the 1950s and 60s, doing typing and reports for many area businesses and professionals before copy machines and computers took over. She later worked for Miller Pharmacy in Millersburg.

She was a life member of Millersburg United Methodist Church, where she took on many positions over the years, including church secretary, and was a member of the building committee that led to the construction of the new church building in 1983. Joan also had a knack for creating uniquely decorated eggs, which were always popular around the holidays.

Surviving are children, Michael (Cindy) Taylor, Pamela (Kenneth) Mohler and Kerry (Danell) Taylor, all of Millersburg; grandchildren, Lisa (Matthew) Feikert, Sasha (Justin) Smith, Dustin (Keli Vaughn), Cameron (Chazarae), Caleb and Mandy Taylor; five great-grandchildren; and a niece, Janet Polen.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Mabel Wolgamott; and a nephew, John.

The family wishes to thank the staffs of Greenfield Assisted Living, Sycamore Run Nursing Home, and Wayne-Holmes Hospice & Palliative Care for the great care provided for Joan.
