WALTER WAITES SR. was the son of Jackson Waites and Mrs. Rebecca (Tolbert) Waites.

He was the husband of Mrs. Cilla Mae (Simpson) Waites.

Obituary for Walter Waites
"Funeral services for Walter Waites, 77, of Jefferson, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Gethsemane United Methodist Church with Elder Smith officiating. Burial will be at Gethsemane Cemetery under the direction of the Lewis and Walker Funeral Home. Mr. Waites died Saturday, August 2, 1986 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center. He was born December 6, 1908, in Marion County, and he was a lifelong resident of the area. His parents were Mr. and Mrs. Jackson Waites.
Mr. Waites attended Marion County public schools. He was a construction worker, and he was a member of Gethsemane United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Cilla Mae Waites, of Jefferson; a daughter, Alice Tyson, of Fort Worth; five sons, Walter Waites Jr., Terry Waites and Oree Waites, all of Fort Worth, and Donnie Waites and Lewis Waites, both of Dallas; two sisters-in-law, Pinkie L. Waites and Luzilla Burks, both of Jefferson; a brother-in-law, David Lee Crawford, of Carthage; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Sterling Waites and Norman Waites."

"Services for Cilla Waites, 95, of Rowlett, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 3, 2011 at Logan United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Core Cemetery, in Jefferson. Arrangements are by Lewis & Walker Funeral Home, of Jefferson. Mrs. Waites was born January 7, 1916 and she died November 27, 2011. Viewing will be from noon-6 p.m. today, December 2, 2011, at the funeral home."
