Russell Dale Demmin, 68, of Sturgeon Bay passed away Friday, April 20, 2012 at Ministry Door County Medical Center after suffering an apparent heart attack.

He was born October 31, 1943 in Sturgeon Bay to Christopher August and Edna Ellen (Torstenson) Demmin.


Russ was a 1961 graduate of Sevastopol High School.

He served his country in the United States Army in France and Germany. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Silver Lake College.

Russ served as a police officer for the City of Sturgeon Bay from February 17, 1970 to September 17, 1989. On May 16, 1969 he married Nancy Marie Jacobe at Salem Lutheran Church.


Russ enjoyed golfing, traveling, car collecting (especially his jeeps), and woodworking in his shop, working on cars and jeeps, and just being a grandpa. He was a member of the AMVETS and AA.


Russ will be dearly missed by his wife, Nancy of Sturgeon Bay;

children, Warren (fiancé Reyhan Crane) of Menasha, Jen (fiancé Mark Walker) Willming of Neenah;

six grandchildren, Collin, John and Adam, Christian, Cambria, and Samantha;

brother, Chris (Carol) Demmin of Sturgeon Bay;

four sisters, Joanell Otis of Sturgeon Bay, Kerrin (Donald) Rae of Menasha, Joyce (Dick) Vertz of Kansas City, Kansas, and Erlene Irwin of Rochester, IN;

and his dog, Molly.


He was preceded in death by his parents;

son, Wade;

sisters, Jane LaViolette, Mercy Warwick;

brother, Al "Bose" Demmin;

daughter-in-law, Mieko Demmin;

and brother-in-law, Ken LaViolette, Tink, Wilbur Warwick, Dale Erwin; and sister-in-law, Leanette Demmin.


Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 27, 2012 at Huehns Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Konkol OFM officiating. Military Honors will be provided by AMVETS Post #51. Burial will be made at St. Joseph Cemetery.

Friends may call at Huehns Funeral Home on Thursday, April 26, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.; and on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m.
