Samuel J. Kirk Services Tuesday
A resident of Golden for 30 years, Samuel J, Kirk, 2211 Ford St., died April 24 at the age of 78. Kirk had suffered from a three-month illness and died at the Veterans' Administration Hospital in Ft. Lyons, Colo. Services will be held Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at the Woods Memorial Chapel in Golden, with the Rev. Eugene Worth officiating. Burial will follow in Golden Cemetery. Kirk was a night supervisor at Lookout Mountain School for Boys until his retirement in 1963. Born Feb. 23, 1892 in Granger, lowa, Kirk attended lowa schools. On June 7, 1940, he married Minnie Kane in Denver. Kirk received an honor certificate from Colorado Governor John Love for his faithful service at Lookout Mountain School for Boys. He was a member of the Methodist Church and the Edgewater Odd Fellows. Survivors include, in addition to his wife, a step-son, Leonard S. Boom, Arvada; a sister, Ethel Kirk, Edgewater; William Kirk, Edgewater and George Kirk, Idaho.
