Pettit Funeral Rites Arranged At Wapello.
Wapello----Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Dudgeon Funeral home for Omer Pettit, former Wapello resident, who died Oct. 18 of a heart attack at Glendale, Ariz. The body is being flown back to Wapello from Arizona and will arrive Tuesday. Burial will be in the Reynolds Cemetery at Foster, Ill. Wapello V. F. W. post No. 5166 will be in charge of committal services. Omer Pettit was born Jan. 9, 1877 in East St. Louis, Ill., the son of John and Julia Watson Pettit. He was a veteran of the Spanish American War. Pettit married Lydia M. Plank of Decatur, Ill., July 26, 19?9. She preceded him in death in 1947. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Novaria of Wapello, two sisters, Mrs. Grace Weagant and Mrs. Anna Calling of Indiana and a brother, Frank Pettit of Amberry, Ind. There are four grandchildren including Pvt. Richard Blake of Wapello.
