A member of the Multinational Peacekeeping Force, Beirut Lebanon 1982 & 1983. Grenada 1983. Killed in Action on December 4, 1983 in Beirut, Lebanon. Sam and the other members of the squad were positioned on the outskirts of the Beirut International Airport on a small rooftop. They were involved in a firefight that lasted for hours. Their position sustained a direct hit by a 120 mm rocket. Sam and 7 other members of his squad were killed.
