Actor. Born into a Jewish family, he was raised in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. He studied at the University of New Hampshire and later enrolled at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, followed by the New School in New York City. He was stationed in Italy as an infantryman with the United States Military during World War II and following his return home, he made his Broadway debut playing 'Berkeley' in "King Richard III" (1949). This was followed with Shakespeare's "Julius Caesar" (1949). During the 1950s, Selzer began his lengthy association with television and would go on to compile scores of credits, initially in the Historical re- enactment series "You Are There" (1954 to 1955), which was hosted by Walter Cronkite. Selzer perhaps may be remembered for playing 'Professor Parker', the gadget deviser for Control in the TV series "Get Smart" (1965 to 1966). Other TV credits include "The Untouchables," "The Twilight Zone," "The Wild, Wild West," "Hogan's Heroes," "Mission: Impossible," "The F.B.I." "Hawaii Five-O" and "Mannix." He played 'Manny Henry' in the television version of "The Valley of the Dolls" (1994).
