This sweet child was found on a mattress in her bedroom which was filled with rubbish and excrement. Not a toy was found in the room. Just left to died because her parents were too busy getting high.

Shellay was 7 years old and weighed only 9 kilos, a child of her age should weigh around 23 kilos.
She had died from starvation. Her parents said she was fine when they had put her to bed the night before.

Previously the family had lived in Sydney and had recently moved to Hawkes Nest in New South Wales to escape the scrutiny of the Department of Community Services who are been involved with the family for the past 14 years.
Prior to Shellays death, 2 teenage siblings and a younger sister had been taken from the family in 2005. The community is in an up roar to think that the department knew of Shellay's situation yet the child was still left in the home.

This dear little girl was autistic and had never been to school, if she had then there may have been a chance that others would have seen her condition and she might have been saved.

Shellay never had the love that every child deserves to thrive and live, thanks to her family and a department that had let her down.

UPDATE: Shellay's parents were arrested today with her murder, 17 Nov. 2007

UPDATE: 21 May 2009 "Parents" currently on trial in local court.
I just can't comprehend what I'm hearing and what this poor child went through. It breaks my Heart.

JUNE 2 2009 Trial still continuing.... I have read many crimes against children but this is the worst I have ever come across. Please pray for Shellay's little soul.
I will no longer read or listen about Shellays death, its just too heart breaking. My next update will let you know how much time in jail these animals will get.

June 24: "Mother" found guilty of murder, "Father" guilty of manslaughter, Sentencing is in August.

UPDATE: 2 October 2009, PARENTS SENTENCED.
Shellay's "mother" will spend life in jail while "father" gets 12 years.

In my opinion they deserve the same treatment they gave to their daughter, a slow lingering death.

A big Hug and Thank you to Kerrie for sponsoring Little Shellay

THANK YOU to everyone who continues to visit Shellay. I wish she could have felt this out pouring of love for her in her short life. I know that any one of us would have taken her if given the chance.
