George Randolph Chisenhall, Jr., 38, of Elgin, SC, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, February 21, 2016. Born June 28, 1977 in West Columbia, SC, he was the son of George R. Chisenhall, Sr. and Brenda Poythress Chisenhall. He was predeceased in death by his brother-in-law: Bryan P. Roberts; aunt: Helen Chisenhall Davis; uncle: Robert E. Poythress; and maternal and paternal grandparents.

George, a 1995 graduate of Richland Northeast High School, continued his education, graduating from Midlands Technical College and Villanova University. He was a 15-year employee of Verizon Wireless Columbia Contact Center as a Northeast Area Operations Supervisor, gaining numerous recognitions and awards. More recently, he was also employed as an online professional for Google, Inc. George excelled in technical knowledge at a young age, winning national championships in computer sciences during high school, and serving as a local chapter FBLA president. This led to him start his own computer repair business at the age of 18 which he continued to operate until his death. George was a licensed amateur radio operator, extra class (KF4KPR) for over 20 years, and served as a past president of the Columbia Amateur Radio Club. He was also a member of the Kershaw County Racing Pigeon Club. His lifelong hobby was studying meteorology and was known by many as “George the Weatherman,” as he kept everyone up to date on the weather. George enjoyed photography, trivia, history, science and astronomy and he possessed an endless wealth of knowledge. As a history buff his favorite quote fits his life and untimely death. His family holds onto the knowledge that George touched many people in his short life. We are forever blessed by the 38 years we had him with us. “It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died; rather we should thank God that such men lived”. –General George S. Patton

George is survived by his parents; sister: Christina Chisenhall Roberts; nieces: Abigail and Cassidy Roberts; aunts: Elaine (James) Chisenhall and Pat (Jimmy) Saxon; uncles: Edward “Tam” Chisenhall and Allen “Butch” Chisenhall; cherished friends: Raymond Price, Erica Kohl (Mikaela and Wesley York) and Neely Wald; and many more beloved family and friends.

In lieu of traditional burial, George’s wishes were to donate his body to the University of Tennessee Forensic Anthropology Research Center Outdoor Laboratory, where he will help further studies in Forensic Science. A memorial service celebrating George’s life will be held 4 PM on Friday, February 26th, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext, Columbia. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 3 PM. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel assisted the family.
