Son of Joseph E. and Frances Jones, of Rathgar, Dublin.
The headstone says he was 22 years old, but the Irish State Death Registers notes that he was 20 years old.
HMS Vulture was an aerial bombing and gunnery range, at Delabole, Cornwall. It was a branch of the Fleet Air Arm, staffed entirely by WRNS.
Joseph Jones joined the RAF, but later transferred to the Fleet Air Arm. He died during a torpedo training exercise, and his body was returned to his family in Dublin.
Joseph and Frances Jones, and their family, lived at 16 Neville Road, Rathgar, Dublin.
