Johnie H. Barrier, 89 years of age, of Waynesburg, Kentucky, departed this life on Sunday, January 2nd, 2011 at his residence.

He was born in Wayne County, Kentucky on February 28th, 1921, son of the late Joe Barrier and Zora Bertram Barrier. He was a lifelong farmer in both Wayne County and Lincoln County. He was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church and a member of the Masonic Lodge for sixty eight years.

He was survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Lucy Kennedy Barrier; three daughters, Linda Sumpter of Somerset, Kentucky, Kathy Campbell of Lancaster, Kentucky, and Faye Pitman of Eubank, Kentucky; eight grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Zora Barrier; and two sisters, Nona Barrier Bridgeman and Ona Barrier Raines.

Visitations were held after 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 4th, 2011 at the Morris & Hislope Funeral Home in Science Hill, Kentucky.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 5th, 2011 in the Chapel of the Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.

Burial followed in the Elk Springs Cemetery in Wayne County, Kentucky.
