Until We're Together Again

Our daughter, Teresa, lost her battle with cancer on September 9th, 2009. She leaves to mourn her death her daughter, Abby Red, her son, Zach Red, her parents Bill and Martha Lowe, and her sister and husband, Angie and Don Woolfolk She also had a nephew, Nick Woolfolk.
Teresa was one of the funniest people you would ever meet. She could light up any room and make people laugh without trying. She grew up with her sister and best friend, Angie. When Teresa was diagnosed with cancer, she moved in with Angie who became her caregiver. They loved staying up late, talking, and watching Big Brother together.
Teresa loved cats. Her favorite cat was Baby Girl who is pictured on her page. While living at Angies, a cat came up, and Teresa begged Angie to keep it around. She named her Talula (not sure why)!
Teresa's favorite holiday was Thanksgiving. She was not a fan of Christmas or Easter or any holiday that required buying of gifts! She simply enjoyed spending time with her family and of course eating. Her signature dish was a green bean casserole. She always went on and on about having to make the "difficult" dish of a green bean casserole!
Teresa's heart was her son, Zach. No matter how much they disagreed or fought over the years, Zach was always her main concern. In her journals, she wrote about how much she loves Zach and wants the best for him. She taught Zach how to drive, which is one of his favorite things to do. They spent a lot of time riding back roads in Oxford and listening to music.
One of Abby's favorite memories of her Mama is riding in her car listening to Mr. Jones and Me by Counting Crows. They had just went to Captain D's and were on their way back to Angies. Teresa danced the whole way back and they both sang to the top of their lungs with the sun roof down.

A BUTTERFLY INDICATES A NEW BEGINNING

We all search for a way to understand the
loss of someone we love...

On the day we were at the cemetery picking
out the plots for Teresa's burial a small
butterfly appeared and at first no one
noticed that it stayed on or near us at all
times. Abby said she had seen it land on my
shoulder and then it flew to Zach and he put
his finger out and it landed there and did
not leave. At one point Zach said I think
it bit me and we all laughed and said it's
Mama she wants you to know that she is here
for your birthday!
While Teresa was sick she talked alot about
her death. She often said " I Don't Want To
Leave Ya'll I Will Miss You So Much" She
worried about how we would handle it after
she was gone. One day she asked me where
she would be buried. I said I wasn't sure
where Daddy and I would be and she said I
want to buried where you and daddy are.So
we decided on Singleton Springs where most
of my family is buried. It's closer for us,
her children and sister Angie to visit.
She got her wish she will lie next to her
daddy which makes them both happy.
Teresa's birthday was Sept.18th just 9 days
after her death so we had all decided to go
and add balloons to her grave. Abby,Bill and
I were the first ones to go down that day.
Her flowers were still pretty and Abby picked
a Lily off her Mothers grave and walked away.
I had started singing Happy Birthday to her
when Abby came back and said Mamaw the
butterfly is back. It was sitting on my shoulder
Abby called for her Papaw to come and see
and it flew to him. Abby had her camera and
started taking pictures. When Abby handed
me the camera it flew and landed on her
finger and it never flew away or left Abby.
We knew it was Teresa's sweet spirit in that
small butterfly letting us know she was with
us. I know this sounds unreal, but it happened
as we left the cemetery Abby placed the small
butterfly in the flowers that covered her
Mothers grave. It never moved it stayed right
where Abby put it and we turned and walked away.

It gives me peace to know that even after
Teresa's death she made sure we knew that
she would always be around. It's winter now
and the butterflies are gone. I look
forward to summer when they are back
showing us that life goes on and she is
free starting her life in heaven, but will
always be near to show us the way when our
time comes to fly where the BUTTERFLIES GO!
Now when you see a butterfly it could be
someone you love or a sweet spirit showing
someone their way to A Happy Peaceful Place
We Call Heaven!

IN LOVING MEMORY OF MY BEAUTIFUL
DAUGHTER TERESA...Mama

We were living a"normal"life until that Sunday
we got a call that would change our lives.
Teresa called and said Mama I went to the
clinic today and they did a CT scan and a
blood test that showed I have cancer
markers in my blood. I have a to see a
cancer Dr. tomorrow can you and daddy
come! We did with her sister Angie and
Sammy. We sat in a beautiful office and
waited. When we saw the Dr. he said I
think you have uterus cancer. They have
made great advances in treatments I want
you to see a surgeon tomorrow. She did and
he put her right into the hospital and
scheduled surgery for the next day. We all
were there she was so sick throwing up. We
would later find out why. She was so scared
and so were we she went down at 2:00 and
her surgery lasted more than 3 hours.
Then the call came that we weren't ready
to hear! She had a tumor that covered her
uterus was embedded and could not be
removed, a large tumor that they did take
off her colon and hot spots all over her
intestines. The tumor that covered the
uterus had blocked part of her lower
intestines and she had to have a colon bag.
This news just broke Teresa heart and she
didn't want to even look at it for along
time. It was the reason she was so sick
before her surgery the Dr. said he knew
when he listened to her stomach she had no
sounds in her bowels and he knew she had
to have her surgery right away. It would
be several days before we found out Teresa
had stage 4 COLON CANCER!!
Teresa spent all of May in the hospital.
We were told when we took her home that
she had 2 or 3 months, 6 at the most to
live. She lived 4 months and 3 days after
learning she had cancer. We were heart
broken Teresa had wanted to live she talked
alot about her death and cried about all the
thing she would miss. I want get to see Abby
get married and have her babies. Zach
graduate school and see what he will do in
his life.Teresa said alot of things but one
that stays with me and makes me cry is when
she would tell us I Don't Want To Leave I
Will Miss Ya'll So Much. She wanted to stay
and live her life with us. She had things
she wanted to do, One Was To Walk On The
Beach And Feel The Sand Between Her Toes.
She got to do that just a few weeks before
her death. I have pictures but they are so
hard for me to look at right now. I hope to
add some of them to her page later. Another
Was To Drive Her Black Camaro. I said you
can't drive with your pain pump and she
said I can unhook it and then I can drive.
She never did get to drive her black Camaro
ever again!

We were told several days after Teresa's
surgery that another surgery would not help
her. The tumors continued to grow and in
the end blocked off her bowel a second
time. The Colon Cancer Took Our Precious
Teresa's LIFE!!

The reason I have added this today is I got
a e-mail and also a message For Teresa from
Linda and I asked her if I could add it to
her page in hope that others want wait to
late like Teresa and have the screening
tests done early. I think it could have
saved her LIFE!

Teresa,
I want to thank you and your precious mother
for giving me the push I needed to have my
colonoscopy. I put it off, was having a few
problems and Teresa's story helped me make
the appointment. Everything is ok with me
and I pray others will also have their
screening. I pray for your family daily.
Teresa may save the lives of many others!

THE FOLLOWING IS A POEM WRITTEN BY HER FATHER, BILL LOWE.

"The Clock"

In Loving Memory
Of My Little Girl
Teresa Lowe Ferrell
By Her Daddy, Bill Lowe

God Winds The Clock
Of Life But Once
With A Different
Plan For All

And No One Knows
Our Fate But Him
Or Even When
He'll Call

For Some The Clock
Will Soon Run Down
For Some It's Many Years
For Some Their Time
Is Happy Time
Others filled With Tears

But No Matter How
Our Time Will Pass
The End Is All The Same
Eternal Life For Everyone
Who Ask In Jesus Name

So Now We Place
Our Daughter's Soul
In Jesus Loving Hands

And Time No Longer
Means A Thing
In God's Eternal Plan

THIS POEM ALSO WAS ON TERESA'S PROGRAM AND PUT INTO WORDS HOW WE FELT ABOUT LOSING HER....

GOD saw she was getting tired
And a cure was not to be;
So he put his arms around her,
And whispered "Come With Me"
With tearful eyes we watched her
suffer, and saw her fade away.

Although we loved her dearly,
We could not make her stay.
A golden heart stopped beating,
Hard working hands to rest;
God broke our hearts to prove to us,
HE ONLY TAKES THE BEST!
