William Bobby Seagraves Jr., 50, of Wilmington, died Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center after a lengthy illness. Bobby was born in Charlotte, N.C., on Feb. 21, 1960, to the late William Bobby Seagraves Sr. and Marie Hubbard Martin.

Bobby attended Independence High School in Charlotte. He worked as a server in Wilmington for many years, primarily at the old Perkin's Restaurant on College Road. He had also worked at McDaniel Farms Restaurant and at the Blockade Runner at Wrightsville Beach. Earlier Bobby had worked for many years at S.P. Richards in Charlotte.

In addition to his mother and step-father, Newton D. "Junior" Martin of Matthews, N.C., Bobby is survived by Kevin Knight, with whom he shared the last 18 years of his life. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who loved him very much. Especially dear to Bobby were his special friends, Patrick Reilly, Sharon Stone, and Karen Kuhlhoff Micholic. He also leaves behind his feline friends, Aretha and Faulkner.

Bobby was known for living life in the moment. He loved swimming and hanging out at Wrightsville Beach. He always liked fine things, and before his illness he loved decorating his house, working with houseplants and dancing. More than anything he loved cars - Cadillacs and Lincolns - and music, especially rock music and classic R&B, including Aretha Franklin, Al Green and Teddy Pendergrass. And he liked it loud.

Details about a service celebrating Bobby's life will be posted soon on Bobby's and Kevin's Facebook pages.

In Bobby's memory, Kevin would gladly accept a living houseplant. You may sign the guestbook and offer online condolences at www.andrewsmortuary.com.
