Body of Midland Man Is Discovered in Auto: Muscogee County police said they are investigating the death of a Midland carpenter who was found dead in his car Friday with severe burns about his body.
Police stated Ted R. Carroll, 55, of Route 1, Midland, was found dead at 2:15 p.m. in his car parked on a dirt road off Hancock Road. James Paulk, Muscogee County coroner, said an autopsy has been performed, but it is still under medical study. The coroner said Carroll had first, second and third degree burns over the greater portion of his body. Police said the body was lying on the front floor of the car with his head against the right front door. A burned patch of grass about 20-feet in diameter was found near the car, and bits of the man's clothing and personal possession were found discarded between the car and the burned grass patch.

Alligood, investigating officers, said the case is still under investigation pending the coroner's report.
Mr. Carroll was born on April 16, 1912, in Alabama, a son of the late James and Luella Carver Carroll. He was a veteran of World War II, a member of the Altman Memorial Baptist Church and a member of the Carpenters Union 1743.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Mary Helen Allen Carroll, Midland, three sons, James Richard and John Raymond Carroll, both of Midland, and Bufhardt Doyce Carroll, Miami, Florida; two daughters, Mrs. Brenda J. Dukes, Columbus, and Mrs. Dimple J. Hill, Miami; a brother, James Washington Carroll, Montgomery, Alabama, a sister, Mrs. Jack Holland, Montgomery, 12 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
