Son of Robert James Hay and Margaret Loretta Cripps. He had gone to college and had his B.A. He was in the C.O.T.C. , the college cadets and when he finished college he was able to enlist as an officer. He rose to Captain and instructed at a battle school in England for two years. He was killed near Ortona in Italy on Good Friday night 1944.
