Bruce Warren Westphal, 51, Spokane, Wash., died Feb 14, 2010, in his home unexpectedly of natural causes.

Bruce was born April 10, 1958, in Minot to William and Josephine (Clouse) Westphal. He attended Foxholm, Carpio and Glenburn schools. He graduated from Glenburn High School in 1977. Bruce worked with his Dad in the plumbing and heating business while in high school. In 1978, the family moved to Velva. Westphal's Plumbing and Heating was established. Bruce worked in the family business until 1991.

Bruce married Darla Jean Johnson on April 6, 1979. They made their home in Velva and Hazen. Of this union they had two sons, Joey, in 1981, and JR, in 1987. Bruce worked at Harvest States Elevator in Beulah for 10 years. He then worked for Lignite Tire in Beulah until his wife became ill. Bruce worked for Cenex in Hazen to be closer to is wife. Darla passed away in March 2002. After her death he returned to work at Lignite Tire until he moved to Medical Lake, Wash., with family in January 2003. He was employed at Cyrus O'Leary's for two years.

He married Darla Ader on Oct. 13, 2004, in Spokane. He was employed with Granite Petroleum, a job he very much enjoyed. Bruce loved being with his family, hunting, fishing and making sausage.

Bruce is survived by: wife, Darla, Spokane; sons, Joey (Ashley), of Atlanta, Ga., JR (Tammy), Velva; sisters, Ramona (Laurence) Anderson, Velva, Barbara (Terry) Kelley, Medical Lake, Wash., brother, Craig, Medical Lake; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife and his brother, James.

Memorial Mass: Saturday, March 13, at 11 a.m. in St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Velva.

Inurnment: Hazen Lutheran Cemetery in August 2010 with his first wife.
