I have just taken the time to look at all the wishes and Tokens you place on Sydney's Memorial page. I am touched by all of these. Thank you so much for the time you have spent in sending them!. :D 05.09.14

Sydney was a precious gift to me. I was so happy when I got her. I never thought for one moment I would lose her so soon.

Everything had been fine with Sydney, she was eating and drinking normally. Sydney was a happy little baby. She loved her food, especially Tomatoes, lettuce, cabbage, cucumber and grapes. Sometimes she would eat carrot and apple as well. Generally a very happy little guineapig. Sydney loved to 'Popcorn' which means to suddenly jump. Sydney loved to do this, because she was happy! :) Lambs do this in the field when they are little. Older guinea pigs do as well. My two older male piggies dont do that, they are too big and lazy!

On November the fifth, Carrot who is another Guineapig of mine, was put into her cage for breeding.(I have two males who live together. Carrot and Turnip are brothers). Both Sydney and Carrot were very happy together and after over two months together, I removed carrot as Sydney was looking pregnant. We were so looking forward to the babies.

Monday afternoon the 18th of January, I noticed that Sydney was not eating and when I picked her up, she had a Dirty and wet underside. I rang the vet for an emergency appointment that afternoon. I called a Taxi because I wasn't going to take her on a bus, it would be far too stressful. When I got to the vet, there was a long wait and the room was full of noise. Unfortunately, Guinea Pigs get very stressed, and because Sydney was pregnant, I hoped that she would be seen very soon. I had to wait nearly two hours, I was getting very worried indeed.

When eventually Sydney was seen, she was badly shaken and had been very unwell. The vet gave her a drop of antibiotic in water by syringe. He said that she was very unwell but that he could try to make her better. I think the vet knew that Sydney could not be saved but took the money. its common practice unfortunately for vets to charge knowing that the pet will die anyway. When we eventually got home again, I tried to give her some water, but she wouldn't take any. She felt cold so I wrapped her up in a warm towel and held her with me. In the morning at 6.20am I went downstairs and called her name. She had died in the early hours of the morning. It broke my heart :(. I have planted a lovely small white flowering plant on her resting place.

A MASSIVE THANK YOU goes to Heather & mojo! for creating a Beautiful special Gold frame in memory of Sydney!!, and never forgetting my lovely friend Sherri who very kindly sponsored my baby Sydney, THANK YOU my friend :D!!!

Ƹ̴Ӂ̴Ʒ^^^^Guinea pigs^^^^Ƹ̴Ӂ̴Ʒ

I'm not a cosy pussy cat, nor hamster in a cage,
Nor a proud Alsation dog, for that is far too big.
I'm a kind of snuggle bug, loved by kids of any age,
A cutie cobbed shaped cavy kind, they call a Guinea Pig.

Try me and I think you'll find I'm rather nice
I can charm and I can calm and make of you, a friend
But be warned that I'm forever, not for once or twice,
For you will fall, they always do, and love me in the end.

Ƹ̴Ӂ̴Ʒ~*~Ode to the Guinea Pig~*~Ƹ̴Ӂ̴Ʒ

~ Oh, guinea pigs, what noble creatures! ~ Blessed with all the finest features. ~ Silken fur from tail to muzzle, ~ Trained from birth to squeak and nuzzle. ~ Potato shaped, ~ Prepared to nap ~ On anyone's awaiting lap. ~ With carrots raised, let's dance a jig ~ In honor of the guinea pig!

With many, many thanks to Liz and Ron for this poem

Ƹ̴Ӂ̴Ʒ~*~Precious Piggies~*~Ƹ̴Ӂ̴Ʒ

If Guinea Pigs were jewels, they'd be of the rare and precious kind,
The sort of gems of various hues, not very often mined.
If Guinea Pigs were flowers, of course they would be blooms,
Of Orchids bright in colour, to brighten up the gloom.
If they controlled the weather, only sunny days there'd be,
For them to run and frolic and share with you and me.
If Guinea Pigs were little stars they'd sparkle bright and clear,
To let you know,no matter what that they are always near.
Our Guinea Pigs are all these things, but more important still,
They're little bundles stuffed with love, for us to have our fill.
