Obituary:
Funeral of Col. Thomas Spencer Hall will be held today. Col. Thomas Spencer Hall, whose death occurred in this city last Thursday [March 24], had an honorable record in the Civil War. He enlisted early in the war in the Ninety-second New York Volunteer Infantry, serving as captain until after of the battle of Fair Oaks, when by the loss of the superior officers he commanded the regiment. He came to Los Angeles twenty-five years ago. For several years he was Internal Revenue Collector, and subsequently spent much of him time on his ranch at La Canada. All of his family died before him except two sons, now residents of La Canada. For several years his health had been failing, and he finally passed away at the age of 72 years.
His remains will be buried from the undertaking parlors of Orr & Hines, on Broadway, between Sixth and Seventh, at 1 o'clock today. Having been one of the early commanders of the old Bartlett Post of the Grand Army, it is expected that his comrades will attend the funeral in large numbers. The interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery. The Veteran Band is asked to attend.
