Casimir's parents were John and Julia Alexandrowicz. His father immigrated from Poland to the United States in 1912 and married Julia, who was born in New York, shortly thereafter. Casimir was a widower with two years of college when he joined the US Army in Erie, Pennsylvania on May 24, 1939 and was serving with the 31st Infantry Regiment of the Philippine Division when he was taken prisoner at the fall of Corregidor. Casimir had married Natasha Romanovna Sturmer, who was born in the Philippines of White Russian parents, shortly before the war broke out. After his capture he was sent aboard the Tottori Maru, a Japanese "hell ship", to Camp Hoten, Mukden, Manchuria (present day Shenyang, China), where he died of dysentery and pellagra.
