Howard Theodore Acosta, son of a farmer, Huey Elbert Acosta and Benita (Donley) ACOSTA, served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. Following his discharge, Howard married Mary Elizabeth Toole. They had one child in Jefferson County, Texas, Joe Marion Acosta (27 August 1956). They were divorced on 11 August 1970.
Following his military service, Howard worked in the printing business as a book binder
