Sister Yvonne "Agnelia" Adams SSND, 87, of Chatawa, died Dec. 27, 1999, at St. Mary of the Pines Retirement Community.
Wake service was 9 a.m. today at St. Mary of the Pines. Funeral Mass was at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Robert Dore officiating. Burial was in Chatawa Cemetery. Hartman Funeral Home of McComb is in charge of arrangements.
Sr. Yvonne was born Aug. 7, 1912, in New Orleans. She was the daughter of the late Charles and Agnes Stephens Adams.
She took vows as a School Sister of Notre Dame Aug. 12, 1931, as Sister Agnelia. She taught in elementary schools for 25 years in Missouri, Illinois, and Texas. In 1956 she went to Louisiana where she taught at Sacred Heart in New Orleans, Immaculate Conception in Marrero, St. Joseph in Ponchatoula, and Annunciation in Bogalusa. Sister Yvonne retired at St. Mary of the Pines in 1980.
Survivors include two sisters, Beatrice Kadletz of Metairie, La., and Rose Fryoux of Gretna, La.; and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to School Sisters of Notre Dame, Saint Mary of the Pines, P.O. Box 38, Chatawa, MS 39632.
