TUSCALOOSA Murphy Jones, of Tuscaloosa, left this life to be with our Savior and Lord May 10, 2011, from DCH Regional Medical Center, at the age of 76.
Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday in Antioch Cemetery with Rev. Ed Steelman officiating and Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Jones; stepdaughter, Karen; one sister; and seven brothers.
Survivors include one brother, David Jones; son, Gary Jones (Pam); stepson, James McMillan; four daughters, Brenda Hall (James), Gail Baird (Steve), Melissa Mott (Derrick), and Toni Jones; stepdaughter, Natalie Wallace (Dale); 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren along with many other relatives and friends.
Murphy was born in Kellerman, Ala. where he was a graduate of Brookwood High School. Kellerman was also where he attended church, played guitar, and sang with the choir. He served a full term in our United States Army that ended in 1962. Murphy completed a course at Shelton State Technical College in 1979. He was a faithful, loving member of Rosedale Baptist Church for many years.
Pallbearers will be Steve Baird, Derrick Mott, Tommy Jones, David Terry, Billy Jones, and Dillian Toxey.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Rosedale Baptist Church.
