LEONARD EDWARD HAMLIN
Leonard Edward Hamlin, 50 of La Plata, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 3, 1998 at the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville. Born on May 6, 1948, in Edina, Missouri, he was the son of Ray W. and Lola Belle (Voyles) Hamlin. On Aug. 6, 1977, in La Plata, he married Bobbi L. Buck, who survives.
Also surviving are his father and step-mother, Ray and Joan Hamlin of Edina; his mother, Lola Belle Snyder of Kirksville; one son, Scott Hamlin of Centralia, Missouri; two daughters, Emily Hamlin and Adrienne Hamlin, both of La Plata; one brother, Randall Snyder of La Plata; one sister, Linda Vozza of Kirksville; three step-sisters, Terry Schrage and Merry Ward, both of Edina, and Sherry Johnson of Southerland, Iowa; two grandchildren, Lane and Raychel Hamlin of Centralia; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his step-father, Gilbert Snyder.
Leonard received his education in the Kirksville school district and served in the U.S. Army from 1968 until 1970. He lived most of his life in the La Plata community where he was employed by the City of La Plata for the past seventeen years as a lineman. He was a member of the Elmer Baptist Church and the La Plata American Legion Post. He was a former member of the Northeast Missouri Coonhunters Association, a former race car driver, an avid hunter, and had also been active in coaching girl's summer softball league in La Plata.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 7, 1998 at the La Plata Baptist Church. Burial will be in the La Plata Cemetery under direction of Travis Funeral Chapel of La Plata.
