RONALD LEE HATFIELD
---Ronald Lee Hatfield was born June 30, 1948 in Kirksville, the son of Howard R. and Margie Gale Miller Hatfield.
---Surviving are his mother and step-father, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Warren of Rt. 3, LaPlata; one brother, A.B.F. 2 Randall Hatfield who is stationed with the United States Navy Air Force at Norfolk, Va.; one sister, Mrs. Benny (Marla) Murphy of Rt. 4, Kirksville; grandparents, Robert Hatfield of Des Moines, Ia., and Clara Hagar and Edna Miller, both of LaPlata.
---He was preceded in death by his father who was killed in an automobile accident in June 1948 and a grandfather, Earnest Miller on Feb. 5, 1972.
---Mr. Hatfield was a 1966 graduate of the LaPlata High School. After his graduation he enlisted in the United Naval Air Force and served until 1970. During this time he was stationed in the Philippines.
---At the time of his death he was an auctioneer and was also employed with the Belt Fur and Wool Company in LaPlata.
---He was a member of the Reynold's Martin American Legion Post No. 282 of LaPlata.
---Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at 1:30 in the Pollock Funeral Chapel in LaPlata with the Rev. Richard Cerretti, pastor of the LaPlata Community Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial was in the La Plata cemetery.
---Bearers were Rayburn Graham, Tom Mitten, Ervel Lock, Carol Lee Mason, Wilson Belt and Mike Moore.

Ronnie was an airman while in the Navy but he never flew any planes. He never served in Vietnam. The closet he came was the Philippines. After he was honorably discharged from the Navy he attended the Reisch Auction College in Mason City, Iowa and graduated in June of 1971. Auctioneers are always referred to as Colonel and this is why I have added it to his name.

NOTE: Ronnie was never married and had no children. He did have a steady girlfriend, Joeann Buckallew, who he had planned to ask to marry him but he died before he was able to. He had even bought rings for the occasion.
