Harold E. Anderson

---Harold E. Anderson, 64, of Hoffman Estates, formerly of Quincy, an artist, died Thursday (March 27, 1986) in Hoffman Estates of an apparent heart attack.

---Mr. Anderson was born near La Plata, Mo., March 12, 1922, a son of William O. and Eula Cummins Anderson. He married Maxine S. Mixer Nov. 27, 1969. She survives.

---Mr. Anderson had exhibited his artworks throughout the Midwest. He won the Lane K. Newberry award for a Mississippi River scene at the 19th annual Quincy Art Show in 1968; two purchase awards at the Jacksonville DJAM Art Fair in 1968-69; second, third and fifth place awards at the former Quincy Legion Town and Country Shopping Center Art Show; and first place in the watercolor division of the Hannibal Art Club's annual show.

---Mr. Anderson held a bachelor of science degree in education with an art major from Northeast Missouri State Teacher's College in Kirksville, Mo.; had attended John Herron Art Institute in Indianapolis, Ind.; completed a commercial art course at the American Academy of Art in Chicago; completed Famous Artists commercial art correspondence course; completed Merlin Enabit's painting correspondence course; went on a Whitney Watercolor Tour of the Maine coast; and completed the Northwestern Academy Watercolor correspondence course.

---Before free-lancing, he was employed by studios in Chicago, Rockford and Moline. He had done free-lancing in the commercial art field and taught painting classes in oil and watercolor.

---Mr. Anderson was a former member of the Art Institute of Chicago and the Quincy Art Club.

Also surviving are his mother, Mrs. Eula Anderson of La Plata; a son, William Matthew of Hoffman Estates; a daughter, Robin Anderson of Indianapolis, Ind.; a step son, Jerry Marsh of Quincy; a step daughter, Shari Lee Marsh of Hoffman Estates, formerly of Quincy; three brothers, Willard A. Anderson of Midwest City, Okla., Wallace J. Anderson of Las Cruces, N.M., and Robert D. Anderson of Cordova, Tenn.; a sister, Betty Lockett of Rockford; and three grandchildren.

---Mr. Anderson was preceded in death by his father and a daughter, Toni Sue Thomas.

Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in the La Plata Christian Church in La Plata. Burial will be in the La Plata Cemetery. The Pollock Funeral Home in La Plata is handling arrangements.
