Leroy E. Austin

Leroy E. Austin, 90, of Addison Back Road, Addison, entered into rest at home on Monday, November 29, 2010.

Leroy was born in Coudersport, Pa. on August 13, 1920, the son of Oscar and Mildred Sterling Austin. He served in the US Army during World War II.

He had married Bessie L. Hackett, who preceded him in death on April 6, 1999. Leroy worked at various jobs including Eberle Tanning Co. in Westfield, Pa. He also worked at several service stations, lastly for Kwik Fill in Rochester, NY.

A great craftsman, Leroy particularly enjoyed plastic canvassing. He loved watching old time western movies and enjoying a chew from his Copenhagen tin.

Surviving are his granddaughters, Frances (Herman) Mattison of Addison, who he made his home with the last 10 years and Brenda Golden, also of Addison, his great grandchildren, Richard Davis, Joshua Fenstamacher, Sabrina Mattison, Alicia Mattison, Christine Stone and Matthew Mead along with special niece Dorothy (Art) Blanchard of Addison and several other nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, December 9th at 11:00am in Woodhull Cemetery Chapel with military honors accorded.

Arrangements are with the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home in Woodhull.
