After her death her husband started the Frances J. Ockerman International Award from The Ohio State University's Agricultural Circle. This annual award recognizes a staff or faculty member's spouse who contributes to international human relations or promotes agriculture in the international community. Their motto is "The World Was Their Classroom".
Burial was in the Lexington Cemetery in Fayett County, Kentucky.
THIS IS A TRIBUTE IN MEMORY OF FRANCES OCKERMAN,
I'd like the memory of me
to be a happy one.
I'd like to leave an after glow
of smiles when life is done.
I'd like to leave an echo
whispering softly down the ways,
Of happy times and laughing times
and bright and sunny days.
I'd like the tears of those who grieve,
to dry before the sun
of happy memories
that I leave when my life is done.
