She was the former LaVerne Bell Simon, a native of New Albany, and a retired bus driver for the Home Transit Company.
Survivors include six sons, Morris(Babe)McDonald Jr of Pekin, Dale McDonald of Louisville, Karl McDonald of Pekin, and Ronald L., Lee, and Kirk B. McDonald, all of New Albany, nine grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Morris McDonald Sr., her parents, Henry J. Simon and Georgia Mae Dowdle, two brothers, John W.Simon Sr. and James E.Simon, and three sisters, Susie M. Williams, Henrietta Johnson, and Lonetta Steger.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 15, at the oak Street Chapel of Seabrook, Dieckmann & Naville Funeral Homes, with entombment in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park. Visitation at the funeral home will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. today, March 14.
