Her obituary from the November 30, 1978 Republican (Danville, Indiana):

Services for Miss Jayne C. Friedt, age 20, were held last Wednesday in the Hall-Baker Funeral Home in Plainfield with Rev. William P. Hendricks and Rev. Harry Howell officiating. Graveside services were conducted in the Roselawn Memorial Park at Terre Haute. She died November 18, when she was slain with her co-workers from the Speedway Burger Chef.

Miss Friedt had been employed by Burger Chef for several years and was the assistant manager for the Speedway Burger Chef for the last three months. She was born May 2, 1958, the daughter of George and Carolyn Friedt. She graduated from Avon High School in 1976. She was a native of Terre Haute but had lived in the Indianapolis area for the last eight years.

Surviving with the parents is a sister, Jo Ann of Danville; brothers, James W. of Morgantown, Joseph and David, both at home, and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Glen W. Kline of Terre Haute.

Although there are others who knew Jayne better, I wanted to make sure that the focus was not on how she died, but on how she lived. I grew up in the neighborhood where the Friedt family moved in the late 60s and was a friend of her older sister. Jayne was an extremely nice person. As a matter of fact, I still remember people commenting on seeing Jayne at work at the Burger Chef in Plainfield. She had a smile and a nice word for everyone she saw. She was well-liked and respected by all who knew her. The fact that she had moved up to assistant manager at the Speedway Burger Chef is demonstrative of her dedication to doing things well. It was such a pleasure to know her. I could also mention that she was beautiful, but you can see that by her picture. She was simply a beautiful person.

Her family loves her dearly and I know they will always miss her. I think of her often.
