Sean was the openly gay son of Elke Kennedy. He was punched in the face as he was leaving a bar in Greenville County, South Carolina. He hit his head on the pavement after being punched and later died as a result of his injuries. Stephen Andrew Moller, who was 18 at the time, was charged with Sean's murder and received a sentence of involuntary manslaughter for the hate crime. Sean was an organ donor and saved the lives of 5 people.
