Peter Crist was the son of Nicholas Crist (Sr.). Peter W. Crist married Christiana Hatfield (who is believed to be a daughter of John Hatfield of Hardin Co. Ohio) on Dec. 24, 1829 in Stark Co. Ohio. His second wife was the widow Elizabeth White, whom he married in Williams Co., Ohio on Dec. 25, 1856. The biography of his son, John N. Crist, notes that Peter was a carpenter and joiner by trade (as well as being a farmer) and was on the muster rolls of a unit of the state militia in Carroll Co. Ohio. The Crists settled in Williams Co. Ohio about 1853. Peter may have died at the home of his son, John N. Crist, northwest of Angola in Steuben Co. Indiana.
