Rev. W. Vincent Cronin, 93, died Saturday, January 19 at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford.

Rev. Cronin was born December 31, 1914 in Waterbury, son of the late Michael and Margaret (O'Brien) Cronin. Raised in Waterbury, he attended Sacred Heart Grammar School and was a graduate of Crosby High School. He then went on to study at St. Thomas Seminary in Bloomfield from 1934 to 1937 when he went to St. Mary's Seminary in Baltimore, Md., and received his master's degree in theology in 1942. He returned to St. Thomas Seminary as a prefect until his ordination at St. Joseph Cathedral in Hartford on June 3, 1943. His appointments included serving as Assistant Pastor of St. Thomas Church in Fairfield from 1943 to 1945, Assistant Pastor of SS Peter and Paul Church in Norwich from 1945 to 1948, Assistant Pastor and then Administrator of St. John the Baptist Church in New Haven from 1948 to 1957, Assistant Pastor and later Administrator of St. Mary Church in New Britain from 1957 until becoming Pastor of St. Isaac Jogues Church in East Hartford on September 16, 1965. He retired on June 4, 1990 as Pastor of St. Isaac Jogues Church.

He is survived by one nephew, John J. Cronin of Waterbury; four nieces, Margaret M. Donahue of Melrose, Mass., Bridget O'Shea of Glastonbury, Doris Kennefick of California, and Margaret Lenkowski of Waterbury; one sister-in-law, Laura Cronin of Glastonbury, and several great nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, January 24 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Isaac Jogues Church, 1 Community St., East Hartford, with the Most Reverend Henry J. Mansell, D.D., Archbishop of Hartford, officiating. Burial will be in New St. Joseph Cemetery, Waterbury.

Father Cronin will lie in state on Wednesday, January 23 from 4 to 7 p.m. at St. Isaac Jogues Church.

Arrangements are in the care of the Bergin Funeral Home, 290 East Main St., Waterbury.
