Father of 13 children, 62 grandchildren, 33 greatgrandchildren. "I gave this ground, I'm laid here first...My wife & progeny around, Come sleep with me, in this cold ground."
[Daniel donated the land for the Wilcox Cemetery. He was born in Middletown Upper Houses. He was a corporal in the 6th CT Regiment, F&I War. He and his son Daniel went to help at the defense of Fort William Henry at the head of Lake George, where the French and Hurons were besieging the fort. They were there for only a few days when the commander of the fort surrendered, and they were helpless to assist while the French allowed the Hurons to massacre the inhabitants of the fort, as they were hopelessly outnumbered. This incident was graphically described in "The Last of the Mohegans".]
