Cherica was a victim of homicide. Her son, Chancellor Adams, was delivered by emergency Caesarean section, 10 weeks premature. Cherica's former boyfriend Rae Carruth, wide receiver for the NFL Carolina Panthers, was charged with first-degree murder.
