rs. Mildred Orr Herning of San Antonio, Texas, formerly of Hazel, Ky., and Paris, Tenn., passed away peacefully on Aug. 7, 2007. She was 96 years old.

Mildred was born in Paris, Tenn., on April 15, 1911, the oldest of four daughters of Gus L. and May W. Orr.

She attended Lee and Atkins-Porter schools, graduated from E.W. Grove High School and attended Murray State University.

Mildred was employed by Salant & Salant Manufacturing, and retired from the company as personnel director of the Paris plant.
All who had the privilege of knowing her will miss her. She was strong in her faith, intelligent, honest and never turned her back on someone in need. She was always more interested in how the other person was doing than how she was. Mildred was a member of Coker United Methodist Church in San Antonio.

A memorial service is scheduled at 3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 10, 2007, at Porter Loring Mortuary North Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Coker United Methodist Church, 231 E. N. Loop Road, San Antonio, TX 78216 or Vitas Health Care of Texas, 5430 Fredericksburg Road, Suite 200, San Antonio, TX 78229.
