CIVIL WAR VETERAN, 94, DIES AT BATH
The death of Captain James Brady, 94, last Civil War veteran on the roll at Bath's Veteran's Facility, occurred early Friday morning at the hospital where he had been a patient. Captain Brady was born in Cameron, the son of Robert and Lucretia Bump Brady. He married Miss Harriet Hare who died about 32 years ago. Deceased served in the 186th New York Infantry during the Civil War and was present at Appomatox when General Lee surrendered. For many years he had been affilitated with the Custer Post GAR. Following the war Captain Brady served as passenger conductor for the Erie railroad and was well known in the railroad circles throughout this vicinity. Following his retirement he made his home in Bath. His only survivor is Mrs. Grace Evans of Bath, a sister. The funeral was held sunday at 2:30 from the Waldo funeral home. Rev. P.E. Greenwalt, chaplain of the Veteran's Facility officiated with Rev. George H. Allen Jr. of Bath Presbyterian church assisting. Burial was in Grove cemetery. Canisteo Times 2/27/1941
