Per his wishes, his body was cremated. Inurnment will be Wednesday at National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Those wishing to attend may meet at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island, at 9:30 a.m., Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Edwin's name to the Alzheimer's Association.
Mr. Genz was born Sept. 2, 1936, in Rock Island, the son of Wilford and Ida Genz. He married Patricia Morgan.
Mr. Genz was a United States Army veteran.
Member of the Rock Island Fire Department from 1 Dec 1960 - 15 Mar 1987. He retired in 1987 as captain. He enjoyed sports, his two dogs, fishing and spending time with his brothers.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Dale Genz, Moline; daughter and son-in-law, Dina and Dave Pauley, Moline; three granddaughters, Stephanie, Sarah and Diedra; four brothers, Jerry, Tom, Bob and Fritz Genz.
