Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. tomorrow afternoon at the Hodgson Funeral Home. The Rev. John L. Schmidt, pastor of the Church of Peace, will officiate, and burial will be in the Rock Island Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 this evening. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
He was born May 27, l878, in Kansas, and was reared and educated in Keosauqua, Iowa. He had been resident of Rock Island for the past 58 years.
He married Frieda R. Meyer Dec. 9, 1909 in Milan.
He was a retired fireman and was a member of the Rock Island Fire Department from 17 Jan 1918 - 21 Jun 1939, retiring with the rank of captain after serving with the Rock Island Fire Department for 21 years. Following his retirement from the fire department, he was employed by Downing's Dairy for over 20 years, retiring in 1963.
Surviving are the widow, three daughters, Miss Marguerite E. Barnett, Rock Island; Mrs. Alvin Wagner, Davenport; and Mrs Arthur Fisher, Rock Island; two sons, Joseph F. Barnett, Winter Park. Fla. and Charles W. Barnett Jr., Milan; two sisters, Mrs. Annie Pender. Council Bluffs, Iowa and Mrs. Blanche Winters, Malvern, Iowa: a brother, Everett, Council Bluffs; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
