LA PORTE -- H. Dale Gettys, 73, of LaPorte, died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 1990, at home.
He was born April 28, 1916, in Putnam County, Ohio, a son of Thomas and Nellie (Ladd) Gettys.
Mr. Gettys had been an area resident for 48 years. He was a retired boiler operator for Powerhouse at Michigan City Prison and was a Boy Scout leader in Westville for 12 years. He attended the Open Door Baptist Church, Valparaiso.
On Aug. 26, 1939, in Waterloo, he married Hilda Casselman, who survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Carol Mills of LaPorte; one son, Ronald of LaPorte; two sisters, Mildred Covitt and Lenore Tancey, both of Fort Wayne; one brother, Cecil of Waterloo; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services 11 a.m. Friday at Weaver Funeral Home, Westville; Rev. Randall Fish officiating; burial in Pinhook Cemetery; visitation 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home; memorials to the LaPorte Hospice or American Cancer Society.
