Dottie Bennett was the eldest of six children born to Rissie Muriel (Brown) and George Earl Bennett. She graduated from Arvada High School in 1940, where many of the students shared their lives from kindergarten to graduation. This Class of 79 students experienced an amazing breadth of American history - from the Model T automobile to a "man on the moon". These young students also faced a trying period in world history - World War II.

Dottie married a Navy man, William Henry Blackwood, who was present at Pearl Harbor and later became a Lieutenant Commander, serving in three wars - WWII, Korea, and Viet Nam.

She raised a family, providing love and support to her husband, children, and friends from her youthful days in Arvada, CO, to her life in California.

Dottie is survived by two brothers, two children, two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
