John and his wife Catherine came to Kentucky from Virginia in the early 18th century. They lived at Fort Boonesborough. They were among the first settlers of Kentucky. John's name is on the Pioneer Monument that was erected and dedicated at Boonesborough (Madison County) in October 1982.
