Port Huron - Charles Pickelhaupt, 87, of Port Huron, died Monday, Dec. 20, 1999, in Port Huron Hospital. He was born June 23, 1912, in Custer, to the late Johannes and Anna Elizabeth Volk Pickelhaupt. He married Lillian J. Bakowski on Dec. 6, 1946, in Chicago. She died Feb. 13, 1991. Mr. Pickelhaupt was an aircraft electrician with the U.S. Air Force. He was stationed in Africa and Italy during World War II. After World War II, he was stationed in Utah, Germany, Italy, Selfridge Air National Guard Base in Mount Clemens, England and Maine. Mr. Pickelhaupt retired in 1967 after 20 years of service. He is survived by a son, Mr. and Mrs. Charles J. (Nancy) Pickelhaupt of Gorham, Maine; a daughter, Karen Rae Pickelhaupt of Port Huron; two grandchildren, Charles (Margaret Ellis) Pickelhaupt and Kathy Pickelhaupt; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers, John, Christian and Emil Pickelhaupt, and a sister, Edith Kleinstiver. Visitation will be 6 to 9 p.m. today in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 23, 1999, in the Pollock-Randall Funeral Home, Port Huron. The Rev. Bill Bendert of Pilgrim Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Port Huron. Military honors will be under the auspices of St. Clair County Allied Veterans.
