PAUL DAVID PRATHER, 79, passed away on Thursday August 25, 2016 at the University of Louisville Hospital. He was born on February 22, 1937 to Roy and Edna Prather in Sellersburg. David was a Silver Creek High School graduate. He was a graduate of Indiana University (Bloomington) where he earned his Bachelors degree in Chemistry and his Masters degree in education. David was a teacher for West Clark Schools (Silver Creek High School) for 31 years and was an instructor at IUS for 11 years. He was also a member of the Hamburg Church of Christ. David was preceded in death by a son, Michael Prather, 2 brothers, Earl and Victor Prather, and a brother-in-law, Clinton LaMaster.
David is survived by a son, Eric Prather, Greenville, Indiana, daughter Jan (David) Rios, Jeffersonville, sister Helen LaMaster, Sellersburg, and grandchildren Kristin Kime, Kayla Kime, Jonathan Kody Kallembach, Kory Kallembach, Justin Prather, and Matthew Prather, nieces Sharon (Butch) Pfister and Mary Katherine Byrd, and nephews Roger (Donna) Prather and Rex (Marcia) Prather.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday August 29, 2016 at the Garr Funeral Home in Sellersburg with burial to follow at Silver Creek Cemetery in Sellersburg. Visitation will be Sunday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home and anytime after 9 a.m. until the time of service on Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Hamburg or Sellersburg Church of Christ or the IUS Ogle Center.
