Laban Clark Lemoin was named after the Rev. Laban Clark, a Methodist preacher whose ministry covered a large geographical area. Laban Clark conducted meetings in Laban Clark Lemoin's parents' home when he was in their neighborhood. In the 1830s the Rev. Laban Clark was one of the principal founders of Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT. He was a Justice of the Peace in Heath Township in Allegan County. He married Rozilla A. Hinkston on September 29, 1831 in Batavia, Geauga Co., OH. She is also buried in this cemetery. They had seven children.
