Born and lived his entire life in Staten Island, NY on September 25, 1964, John J. "Porky" McCarthy, Jr. is the son of the late Vivian D. (McLaughlin) McCarthy and the late John McCarthy, Sr He is also the the brother of Kathyann McCarthy-Bodell. Although John never married he did have one child, a son John Thomas McCarthy.

John was always some character, and the life of any party. His nick name was "Porky", and most of the time when I met people for the first time and told them I lived in the Concord section of S.I., they always seemed to know my brother by his nick name and never by his real name. He seemed to know everyone and seemed to blend in and get along with all.

Not only was he my big brother, but also now he will be my guardian angel. John was only on this earth for 39 years when his life was taken suddenly from him. I was extremely proud that John was my brother, and will always continue to be the voice for him. He was certainly taken too young from us and his son. I will miss him much more than that. This is a man that truly never took a day for himself, but would rather help others. In the end, the ones that really mattered were there. I truly hope that your on a cloud and are just chilling out and fixing it up until we all meet again.

One thing my brother never got to see finished on the big screen, is something he did about two years before he past. My brother had a bit part playing a bartender in the movie "Jimmy Whispers Returns to Mulberry Street" - The movie was released in October 2004 and is a part II to the movie "A Bronx Tale". We are so proud to see my big brother in the movie! - Your the best!

John had passed away on the night of February 24, 2004 after suffering from a major stroke that had struck him only 4 days prior. We never knew the signs and symptons of strokes, it took his death for us to get educated and learn that this can happen to young people too. I would suggest everyone should know the signs & symptoms and to try to prevent a stroke, please visit this website and learn: Stroke Association

"Til the day we meet again in my heart is where I'll keep you friend. Memories give me the strength I need to proceed"
══════════ ೋღ☃ღೋ ══════════

"You've heard the phrase, short but sweet,I'd like to use it now, That's how your life was on this earth,
It seems appropriate somehow.

You took the time here on the earth, Lived life fully every day, We thought it was forever, But it doesn't work that way.

You were on loan for a little while, To teach us about many things, Then God came to get you, To fit you for your wings.

Now as I gaze toward Heaven, I see your Halo shining bright, With a big smile right beneath it, Telling me you're all right.
