My Sister

Many thanks to Rhonda Sue Harrison for sponsoring my little sister Shirley's memorial. Such a nice thing to do...

I ADDED A PICTURE WITH CAPTION OF SHIRLEY'S DOLL.

Shirley Shetley daughter of Jerry Franklin Shetley and Lois Leona Gaydon-Shetley, sister of Jerry Shetley Jr(deceased), Nita and Joyce. Her Dad surprised her with an early Christmas. She got a doll and a rocking chair. She rocked her doll all the week before Christmas and sang "Meet Me There." She died on Christmas Day with Bronchial Pneumonia. She was a smart, special, little blonde blue eyed angel.
**********

My Little girl was so smart. She walked and talked early. She knew all the songs she heard at church and would sing them all the time. She never met a stranger. She talked to everyone. We use to go for a walk and she had to stop and talk to everyone she passed along the way. The week she died she would rock her doll and sing to it and Christmas morning, she was singing *Meet Me There* She stopped and reached over to me in a nearby chair, patted me on the knee and said Meet Me Dar, Mommie. I have relived that moment many, many times over these years.

Mama wrote the following poem in Shirley's memory, many years ago.

My Little Angel
I heard an angel sing so many years ago, a voice so sweet but not too plain, she was only 2 you know. God sent her with a message that only she could bring, It surely changed my life when I heard an angel sing.
On that happy golden shore, where the faithful part no more, when the storms of life are ore, Meet me There.
When I get weary and the way gets rough and hard. I hear that little voice again that surely came from God.
Where the night desolves away into pure and perfect day, I am going home to stay, Meet Me There.
I didn't keep her very long but she got the message through, God took her home to Heaven, you know He loves her too. She's singing now for Jesus I know she looks so sweet, I'll meet you there dear Shirley, someday at Jesus Feet. I don't want to miss it, no not for anything, So I gave my heart to Jesus when I heard an angel sing.
Meet me There, Meet Me There, Where the Tree of life is blooming meet me there. When the storms of life are ore on that happy golden shore, Where the faithful part no more, Meet me There.
Meet Me Dar Mommie !!!

Mama wrote this 30+ years ago. They sang this song at her funeral and a few years later the same minister and the same song was sung at my Daddy's funeral. Recently the same song was sung at Mama's service. 2010
Thank you for taking time to read this and for remembering Shirley and my Daddy.

PLEASE LEAVE A FLOWER FOR MY DADDY!!!
