Orvel M. Dickinson
Port Huron-Orvel M. Dickinson, 72, of Port Huron, died unexpectedly Sunday, July 20, 1997 in Port Huron Hospital. He was born Sept. 21, 1924 in Purcell, Okla., and was a life long area resident. He married Grace M. Anger on April 2, 1960 in Port Huron. Mr. Dickinson was employed with the Times Herald prior to his retirement on Aug. 1, 1996. He also was previously at Foster`s/Tait Block and Supply. He and his wife were foster parents and were members of the foster parents association. He also enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, and camping. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during WWII. He is survived by his wife, Grace; two daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Richard (Kathy) Bennett of Marysville, and Shalene Eldridge and Finance` Jr. Carpa of Marysville; two sons, Michael Dickinson of Port Huron, Scott Dickinson of Marysville; 11 grandchildren, Danielle and Demetri Gregg, Rick and Jamie Bennett, Jason, Matthew, and Carrie Worden, Kristen and Ashley Eldridge, Cassy, Frank, and Brandon Dickinson, one great granddaughter, Delaney Gregg; over 50 foster children; his sister, Joann Arnold of Port Huron; several nieces and nephews; his dog, Skippy, his cat Maling. He was preceded in death by his son, Terry Worden on Sept. 2, 1995. Funeral services are 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. Dr. Richard D. Lobb will officiate. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery. Visiting hours are 7-9 p.m. today and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday. Pallbearers will be Richard Bennett, Jr. Carpa, Demetri Gregg, Rick Bennett, Jason Worden and Matthew Worden; Honorary pallbearer will be Danielle Gregg.
